A Certified Medication Technician is trained to administer medication under the supervision of a licensed nurse. This class prepares Certified Nursing Assistants to become Certified Medication Technician to work in long term care facilities. This program meets the requirements of the Arizona Board Of Nursing.
Prerequisites

CNA experience (6months)
Current CNA License
Letter Of Recommendation form Director of Nursing

Class: 60 Hours
Externship: 40 Hours

The program covers extensive instruction including but not limited to:
- Medical Terminology
- Classification of Medications
- Medication Mathematics
- Pharmacology
Externship
Following the classroom and laboratory training, students will partake in a clinical externship in order to develop their skills and get a real world experience. Externships for the Certified Medication Technician program will take place in Nursing Homes. Providence Training Institute provides the externship sites.
